The trade fair offers a wide range of delicatessen, gourmet foods, private label products, convenience and snacking items, regional specialities, superfoods and kosher products.
The "Anuga Halal Market" special event, which presents a wide spectrum of halal-certified products for the retail trade that are particularly popular in Asia, Africa and the Middle East, is one of the highlights. The trend exhibition "Anuga Clean Label" has been an integral part of the trade fair since 2021. It focuses on products with less sugar, artificial ingredients and more natural aromas. Furthermore, the trend exhibition "Anuga Free From, Health & Functional Food" offers healthy food and alternatives for wheat, gluten, lactose and fructose, which are increasingly popular due to intolerances and healthy eating.

About the development of premium foods:*
The global innovation activity in the section of "fine food" or "premium/luxury foods" is experiencing a clear upward trend according to Anuga's knowledge partner, Innova Market Insights. With an average annual growth rate (CAGR) of +6% these products are gaining significance worldwide. In Western Europe 3 out of 10 product launches are fine foods, followed by Asia with a share of 25% (market share, 2019-2023). The fastest growing regions are Africa (+19%) and Eastern Europe (+16%) (Global, CAGR 2019-2023). On a country level, the USA tops the rankings with a 14% share between 2019 and 2023, followed by Great Britain with 8% and India with 7% (Global, 2019-2023) (Innova Database).
Product categories and consumer trends*:
- Top category for premium products: Fine foods and sweets (10% share each), followed by sauces and spices (10%) and bakery products (9%).
- Consumer influence: 43% of the consumers worldwide stated that the premium label has a high to extremely high influence on their purchasing decisions. Furthermore, 15% of the consumers consciously opt for premium or luxury ingredients.
- Popular health and selection demands: The term "without additives/preservatives" was the most important health characteristic (29%) in 2023, followed by vegetarian products (23%), products with a high protein content (21%) and gluten-free products (20%).
