“From Tortilla Wraps to Beer” - How Leighton Foods A/S fights against Food Waste and supports sustainability
“Food Waste” is an important matter nowadays and Leighton Foods A/S is keen on finding possibilities in using imperfect wraps which are sorted out during the production process due to wrong diameter or not round form. We produce 10.000 tons of tortilla wraps per year and under the slogan “Waste not wasted” we developed together with a German brewery the first ever Tortilla Beer brewed with 10% rescued tortillas.
The result is called “Chica Mexicana” which is a Wheat Beer with sweet orange zest.
At ANUGA we will present this beer to the trade and we invite all interested visitors to taste our fresh and fruity “Tortilla Beer”.
The launch is planned for September 2023.
