Anuga 2025 and the Cologne Marathon – Important Travel Information

Important information for exhibitors and travellers

In October 2025, two significant events are taking place simultaneously in Cologne: the leading global trade fair Anuga (4 to 8 October 2025) and the Cologne Marathon (5 October 2025).

We are aware of the logistic challenges that this overlapping causes and have together with the City of Cologne, the organisers of the Marathon, the traffic and safety authorities as well as further partners, made extensive plans in a timely manner. Our aim is, as always, to conduct Anuga smoothly, professionally and make sure it is a pleasant experience for all of the participants.

Anuga 2025: Information on assembly and arrival

Please note: Anuga and the Cologne Marathon coincide on 5 October 2025. Road blocks will already be in place around Cologne-Deutz on 4 October, from 8:00 p.m. onwards. We recommend arriving by public transport.

Furthermore, 3 October is a public holiday in Germany - many shops are closed. One is recommended to plan early regarding the assembly and purchasing provisions. Further information will follow.

We are currently working out detailed traffic guidance, logistics and visitor guidance concepts to ensure the smooth running of Anuga in spite of the simultaneous staging of this major event. We will place this information at your disposal in due course.

More information on the events mentioned

1. Public holiday on 3 October - effect on the assembly

  • Supermarkets and many shops are closed on this day
  • There are only limited shopping opportunities in a few places, for instance at Cologne Main Station, Cologne/Bonn Airport and at petrol stations
  • We recommend you take care of necessary purchases and logistic preparations in advance

2. Cologne Marathon on 5 October - traffic obstructions possible

  • Traffic obstacles particularly in the Cologne-Deutz area are expected due to the routing of the Marathon.
  • The first road closures will already be in place on Saturday, 4 October, from 8:00 p.m. onwards, particularly on Opladener Street.
  • Taxis will also be able to access the train station after 8:00 p.m.
  • People arriving by car may encounter considerable delays
  • We urgently advise people to use public transport or the train instead:
  • Neither local public transport nor rail traffic will be affected.
  • The frequency will be increased and longer trains will operate.
  • For current information on the traffic guidance we recommend the free navigation app NuNav (in conjunction with the City of Cologne).
